Self.img makes amazing collages. Her work feels so satisfying to my brain. Everything is organized and beautiful. It has a whimsy to it, and reminds me of being online ten years ago, before the rot set into my cognitive processes. The internet used to feel different. Now I throw coins into the algorithm and offer it a gift of my face, hoping to be cherished, or looked at for a second. But Karla's work feels separate from that. There's a playful curiosity in it. They're a collector of feelings and images, an archiver, and self-documentarian. They spin it all together in forms that feel fun.
